Instructions
Dumplings
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Use a food processor and mix together the butter, flour and salt until it crumbs. Sprinkle into the food processor about 1/2 cup water until dough forms.
Separate the dough into four equal pieces and flatten them into circles. Wrap them individually in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Sprinkle some flour on a cool surface and roll out each circle until its about 9 inch round.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small glass bowl. Put half an apple in the center of a dough circle. Put one fourth of the cinnamon sugar mixture in the apple and place the other half of the apple on top. Wrap the dough around the apple and pinch the dough together on top to seal it up.
Place the dumplings on a lightly greased baking sheet, seam side down. Bake until light golden about 50 minutes to an hour. Transfer to plates while it is still warm. Serve with ice cream or cool whip. For a little extra sizzle add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the top.
Apple Dumpling Syrup
Extra Syrup
Not everyone wants extra syrup on their Apple Dumplings but we do! Here’s a simple recipe for some extra syrup
In a small saucepan melt the butter on medium heat. Don’t brown it, just melt it. Then add the brown sugar and cinnamon and let them melt.
Spoon over the ice cream or your Apple Dumpling.
Recipe Notes
A nice traditional recipe that you can top with vanilla ice cream for something extra special.
