Double Chocolate Orange Cookies
A chocolate lover’s dream with a bit of citrus for a nice twist.

Ingredients
  • 1cup softened butter(2 sticks)
  • 2/3cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • Juice of half a large orange
  • Zest of a large orangedivided
  • 2 1/4cups flour
  • 3/4cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 3/4tsp salt
  • 1cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until fluffy and lighter in color.
  3. Add the eggs, orange juice, and 1 teaspoon of the zest to the butter and sugar mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring to combine. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving room between each cookie. Flatten the dough balls just a bit and sprinkle some of the remaining orange zest over the cookies.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Remove to cooling racks to cool completely.
