Sound appealing? Then let’s have a closer look at the following details:

Operational Settings

The control panel is conveniently located on the top of the unit just below the bag holder compartment. It features easy-touch buttons and bright LEDs that indicate the current setting and allows you to monitor progress. All lights will go out once the entire process is finished.

The retractable handled hose is easily accessible from its storage top-mounted storage niche and is used with the ‘Accessories’ setting to exhaust and seal canisters, jar lids, wine stoppers, and zippered bags.

The ‘Marinate Mode’ uses a combination of vacuum pulses and rest periods to quickly infuse flavor into meats. In just 10 minutes, foods are fully flavored – perfect for busy weeknights.

The ‘Food’ button has adjustable settings for moist and dry foods. For wet foods, press until the ‘Moist Food’ indicator lights, and for dry goods and other foods lacking moisture, choose the ‘Dry Foods’ setting.

The default setting is ‘Dry’ unless sensors detect liquid in the drip tray – if the ‘Moist Food’ light flashes, change settings to accommodate moisture-rich foods and produce a longer closure time.

Use the ‘Seal’ button for processing delicate items and prevent crushing. As soon as you push the button, it immediately stops the cycle and closes the bag and can also be used to close bags that don’t require air evacuation.

A ‘Cancel’ button will immediately stop any process and open the vacuum channel.

The ‘Tray Full’ indicator lights tells you when the drip tray is full. Empty, rinse, and dry the tray before replacing it then resume operation

The ‘Power’ button is used to start the FoodSaver and the machine with shut off automatically when it sits idle for 12 minutes.

Components and Details

The V4440 has a convenient roll holder and bag cutter compartment which is located under the top lid. Load a roll of bags onto the holder and use the bag cutter and bar to quickly create any size of pouch you want.

The automatic bag-loading feature activates as soon as a pouch is inserted into the vacuum channel. Sensors with grab the bag, exhaust the air, heat-lock the closure, and open the channel when done.

The heat bar has a non-stick coating and makes an extra-wide seal to ensure an airtight, secure closure.

A removable drip tray is front-loading for easy access and catches any liquids that might escape from pouches – an internal sensor will illuminate the ‘Tray Full’ light on the control panel to indicate when it needs to be emptied.

The included FoodSaver bags are BPA-free, resistant to punctures and tears, and are safe to microwave or boil. They also feature peel-open convenience so there’s no need for scissors or a knife to cut them open.

The housing unit is constructed of a durable polymer with a stainless steel top and is easily cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. And there’s a handy hidey-hole on the back of the unit to store the power cord when not in use.

The V4440 measures approximately 11 x 20 x 12 inches, weighs just over 9 pounds, and will accommodate bags 11 inches wide. It comes with FoodSaver’s (Sunbeam) 5-year warranty to be free of defects in materials and workmanship.

  1. Hello. I have the V4440 Foodsaver Sealer. I am going crazy trying to figure out how to seal mason jars with the attached hose??? I have the regular top for mason jars.

    Please HELP!

    • Do you have the plastic jar sealer attachment as well as the hose? (Maybe this is what you’re referring to as the “regular top for mason jars”?) Leave at least an inch of headspace at the top of the jar, and place the lid on top (but not the metal ring). Place the attachment firmly in place over the top, and then insert the hose in the hole in the top of the attachment. Lock the latch, and then seal. Pull out the hose, remove the attachment from the jar, and then test to make sure the lid is firmly in place before you screw on the ring.
